Researchers  Patric Hagman, Leila Cammoun, Xavier Gigandet, Reto Meuli, Christopher J. Honey, Van J. Wedeen, Olaf Sporns have created a network map of the brain.  This research is critical because it creates a map that show how everything is connected and where critical hubs are.  What is interesting is that the "hub" areas are the same when the brain is resting as well as active.  Note: this article is worth looking at just for the images - which illustrate how the brain is wired and are quite beautiful.
