In short: spend $1.2 trillion on wind power, switch to natural gas for vehicles and eliminate the need for foreign oil. Probably the most interesting point, and the one that really needs to be understood by the American People is the amount of money that flows out of America to pay for oil: $700 billion per year. What is interesting is that the US trade deficit for 2007 was about $711.6 (US Census Bureau). In other words, the PickensPlan could narrow our trade deficit to a tiny $11 billion and put returning to a positive trade balance withing possibility. That means more wealth stays in America.
As imports grow and world prices rise, the amount of money we send to foreign nations every year is soaring. At current oil prices, we will send $700 billion dollars out of the country this year alone — that's four times the annual cost of the Iraq war.-- PickensPlan: The Plan
It's good to see some of America's wealthiest people stepping up with ideas. Most people who are highly successful have a kind of practical intelligence that is sorely lacking in Washington DC. Hopefully this is the start of something great. Tags: energy, oil, economy, deficit
