I’m thankful that I was born in the late 20th century, in a country where working in a factory pays well, farming isn’t done with slave labor, where wars are limited (unless you live where the war is) and I can speak my mind without fear of being locked up.

Truth be told, my completely middle-class standard of living and lifespan would be the envy of kings in the not-so-distant past.

It’s an amazing time to be alive, and so easy to see sidetracked by the negative. It seems like no one wants to celebrate how great things really are. Instead, we’re constantly reminded of everything that is wrong, no matter how small the wrong is. Everything seems unfair. There’s an -ism for everything.

The truth is, for many of us, we’re living a life that our ancestors couldn’t imagine. Humanity seems to find a way to get better. Let’s keep striving to make life better on earth for everyone. It’s working.
