I wrote this two years ago, on the plane coming home from PyCon. It is still very relevant:
One of the highlights of my trip to PyCon was listening to Paul Graham explain how Silicon Valley works. In short, the center of Silicon Valley is wherever the next big ideas are being generated. With 2000 engineers and developers present, Graham declared that for the next weeek, PyCon was the center of the Valley.
As I fly back to Indy, I can’t help but think how badly Indy’s startup culture has it wrong. The focus is all on past success and last year’s business models.
