Back in 2012 I wrote this article: “Software Engineer vs Software Developer” to make light of the engineering community’s attempt to “Realtorize” the job title “software engineer”. Here’s a summary:

Software Developer = po-tay-to
Software Engineer = po-tah-to

Over the past eight years, a lot has changed and some differences have emerged. Kelly at emailed me with a very comprehensive article on the difference between software developers and software engineers. Here’s the summary:

“Software Engineers” get paid, on average, $20,000 per year more than “Software Developers”.
